Yesterday marked Day 30 of my Whole 30 Program…30 days, no sugar, no dairy!
Results:
Lost 4 pounds and 1% body fat.
Improved digestion.
Kicked my sugar cravings to the curb, for good!
Realized I can live without dairy.
Was able to adapt my favorite recipes easily, never felt deprived.
Would I do this program again? Absolutely. Do I recommend it? Wholeheartedly.
What’s next for me? I plan on keeping things status quo. I’m going to stay off dairy for a while…I may consider adding grass-fed butter or ghee and possibly at some point heavy cream but right now I just don’t feel the need for it, I’m completely happy with coconut milk and coconut oil as substitutions. I’ve struggled for most of my life with a crazy sugar addiction (even to natural sweeteners and stevia) which I finally feel free from so no plans to even dabble with that demon. All in all, I feel like this last 30 days was a complete success and that I accomplished exactly what I set out to do.
Thanks Whole 30!
Round of applause for you! You didn’t mention you completed it WHILE FLYING. I think that’s pretty commendable! I, too, totally loved the Whole30…truth be told, a little sad it’s over, although I am still eating like I am still on the Whole30. That’s a good thing! Best to you!
Thanks for reminding me…yes, I did stay 100% compliant while working! I was actually traveling 19 days out of the 30!!! It did take some extra planning but was worth it. I guess for me, and sounds like you too, we will be Whole 365! Why not, right? I feel great and don’t really miss anything…Best to you as well!
Good for you!! Would love to see what a daily day of meals would be? Do you have a favorite breakfast/lunch & dinner?
Oh my…a favorite? I LOVE to eat so it would be hard to choose a favorite as it seems to change quite frequently! A typical full day of eating for me looks like:
Breakfast: Spinach, Mushroom, Onion and Tomato Frittata…sometimes with bacon or homemade sausage
Iced Coffee with coconut milk
Lunch (this is usually my largest meal of the day): 4-5 ounces of protein (turkey burger, pulled pork, chicken thighs, ground buffalo), roasted veggies and sometimes a sweet potato or butternut squash
Snack: apple with almond butter or a handful of macadamia nuts
Dinner: A large salad with all kinds of raw veggies (cucumber, celery, carrots, cauliflower), avocado or olives, usually a lighter protein like grilled chicken breast, salmon or shrimp
This would represent a full menu…I would say I hit this about 4-5 days a week, other days I may omit the snack or keep the snack and omit a meal, if i do that though I would add a bit of protein with it. I rarely miss breakfast as it is my favorite meal of the day!!!
One of my easiest go-to meals is a Salmon and Avocado salad…1 can of salmon, 1/2 an avocado, chopped celery and carrots, shredded cabbage if I have it, salt, crushed red pepper and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar…stir it up and you’re good to go…it nice and portable too!
Thanks for listing this menu. I find it helpful to plan some of my meals out.
Hi, there! Just wondering how things are going for you now that you’re a little over a month out from completing your Whole30. How are the sugar cravings going? Sweet cravings have always been my downfall…I just can’t seem to reintroduce them without going overboard, even if it’s just fruits. Curious how a fellow addict is handling it. =)
Well, believe it or not I’m still doing great! I’ve stayed completely off dairy and have only had a few bites of sugar here and there…I actually made my favorite dessert post-Whole 30 of Pumpkin Pecan Pie (only sweetened with a honey or palm sugar) and I could only stomach a few bites…it was just too sweet for me to even enjoy it, it was completely shocking to me! I was worried too that once I had just a bite the sugar cravings would come back but they didn’t!!!! The only other things I’ve had is a few squares of dark chocolate and a couple of cookies (Coconut Delight Cookies)…again I was worried about the cookies as they will usually spiral me out of control (meaning I will eat the whole batch!), but I didn’t! It’s just amazing to me…
Now, with all that said I do enjoy my fruit…daily, but never more than two servings but I think that keeps me satisfied. My go-to treat at the moment which feels like dessert to me is 1/2 a banana, topped with almond butter, then 1/2 cup of frozen cherries drizzled with warm coconut cream. It’s decadent and all I need. I’ll let you know how it goes after I make your Paleo-fied Chocolate Cake though!!! I’m an empty-nester now so I sure don’t have the temptation of having to satisfy the kiddos with treats…I’m sure that’s a struggle!
